HMO CONTRACT REQUEST FORM

HMO Lawyers Write Patient Contracts to Control their Healthcare

HMOs and HMO medical groups tell patients that their healthcare is in the hands of doctors. Not so! HMOs hire lawyers to write rigged contracts to justify delay and denial of healthcare. Managed care medicine is "contract" medicine. Contracts control how your doctor practices medicine. Click here to find out about how HMO lawyers use their poison pens against patients.

I consider the problems patients have getting their HMO contract so significant, that I named HMO HARDBALL Dirty Trick #1 "Mystery Contracts." Click here to read this dirty trick, as it appears in a Y2K addition to the site, "Your HMO’s Top 10 Dirty Tricks."

The Bottom Line

HMOs and their doctors and their medical management companies require patients to take "responsibility." HMOs hide their contracts, so patients don’t have facts. Doctors get a commission for each prohibition.

A few words of caution. Use some type of guaranteed and certified delivery such as USPS certification including a return receipt. Why certified? Because HMOs know that if the patient’s request isn’t traceable, they can throw it in the trash, a dirty trick of bureaucrats. Also be warned that HMOs don’t like providing patients with addresses, even for routine correspondence. Why? They don’t want patients to create written records that can be used to hold them accountable. So don’t be surprised, if you’re told that all requests are taken by phone and no mailing address is available. Or alternatively, you may be told that you must come to the membership services office. If this happens to you, be persistent and get and a membership services address and manager’s name.
